Maria Merkou

Maria Merkou is a lawyer and works as a digital health expert at BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation. Her practice focuses on consumer advocacy and protection, and amongst others on the European Health Data Space Regulation. She is also a member of the Athens Bar Association.

Previous to that, Maria worked as a project officer at the European Health & Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) in Brussels and as a legal advisor in Greece. She graduated from the School of Law of Democritus University of Thrace and holds an LLM in Health Law and Ethics from Nottingham Trent University, where she focused on clinical trial transparency and regulation.
